I've driven by this place since I was a kid. But only recently have the realtors unlocked the gates. It never was a problem getting in before but I just never felt like jumping over a fence... The place is right across from the city's DMV office and I just happened to be there one day getting paperwork done for my car when I had some downtime and noticed that the gates were wide open. I was going to walk over there but decided to take my car in. So I drove through the gates over the eroded and weeding parking lot then parked barely out of view right under what used to be left of the security officer's cubby. Armed with just my iphone and a cup of lemonade I pranced right in. The only thing that kept me from thoroughly exploring was the unbearable heat and the fact that I was wearing flip flops. There was a lot of glass and dirt and I didn't want to risk falling and cutting my feet up so I happily turned around. I will definitely plan a second visit in the future in hopes of gaining roof access.
