House on the Border-Part 2

Well...we were in Mexico. This was it. Our destination.
Unfortunately as we proceeded down the highway, our target completely dissapeared from the view.
The only thing that kept us going was a memory of a row of warehouse type buildings that were positioned approximately perpendicular to THE HOUSE. This meant that the rest of the trip is going to be a guessing game. We had no clear view of THE HOUSE...only trial and error would get us where we needed to be. On our first try we failed miserably. Following the highway a bit too much we ended up way to far from our imaginary target. We stopped in the middle of nowhere and decided to go back towards the dam. On our approach we noticed that row of buildings that was supposedly lined up with THE HOUSE. Group of buildings was at the end of the road off the highway. We had nothing to lose, so we took that exit. Unfortunately all that we found at the end of that road was chained up gate and two little boys playing catch. We almost shed a tear. Maybe we missed something? Once again we decided to drive back to the dam. As we were about to get back on the highway, Phalanx noticed short gravel road hidden among the bushes and small trees. At the end of that road was a small gate and a fence that seemed to disappear into the horizon. What should we do? We were already here..Let's check it out. We turned and drove down the bumpy and dusty road which in reality was no more then an overgrown trail.
Gate was locked. Fence was flimsy. Beyond it, was very likely the thing that we were searching for the past hour and a half. We looked at each other.... If we go forward with this, this is what we were about to do... First we were going to leave our vehicle in the middle of nowhere in the starnge country. Second, we were going to commit a trespass on someone's property and possibly break some laws we were not aware of. Third, we were going hike through an unknown territory
with possibility of getting lost and hurt...Should we proceed? "YES" or "NO"?

The decision was "YES". We moved our car closer to the gate with the front pointing towards the road assuring a quick getaway. Next, we got our passports,ID, cameras and water out of the car, changed into our hiking footwear and slowly walked to the gate.
Instantly we were on the other side of the fence...Well, not instantly...I scratched my leg real good...Oh, well...It was a first of many scratches I was going to get that day...First thing we noticed on the other side of the fence was how inhospitable the environment we were about to enter truly was. Everything was sharp, dry and pointed. It was a world made from heat, sand, rocks
and needles.
Since THE HOUSE was still invisible, our next move was to find a direction which hopefully would bring us closer to our target.
By simply finding dam and pointing in the direction where the house should be we started along what
looked like a trail. Unfortunately, since we were not familiar with this particular piece of land
our hike turned into something of iron man march.

Phalanx

Rocks, thorns and ocasional cow was not that much of a problem...Heat and somewhat of a tricky terrain became quite a handful. We crossed two creeks, battled sharp branches while making our way through small groupings of trees and almost got used to
a tricky up and down nature of the topography. Every time we would come to a rocky ridge which I hoped would be the last one, we would be surprised by another one...and then another one...All that with my head full of thoughts of our car being stolen...and us having to find our way home on our own...

Suddenly There it was..The house!
