well, anyone around the amsterdam area should be aware of the presence of the mohasco complex. While it has for the most part been demolished, whats left is two large buildings (possibly occupied) and a power station, tucked far back on the edge of a steep hill and thick woods. During a recent expedition we decided to treck through said woods as an alternative to walking through a wide open parking lot past said possibly occupied buildings. We made it to the power station without a problem, and after a very productive shoot, we were all soaked to the bone with sweat. i then realized that i had left my water bottles in the car (bad move number one). after enjoying thoroughly the two massive GE generators, the switch panel from which you can summon "Vanango, The Avenger Of Amsterdam", and the spiral staircase coupled with several steel walkways around the coal chute, we headed to the exit, upon climbing the elevated railroad trestle, we decided to head back a different way, through the woods again, but instead straight up a steep hillside (bad move number two), after hiking what seemed like nearly half a mile up this hillside, we were met with a barbed wire fence. me and pitchblack could have scaled this fence, unfortunatly our companion (imagine a six foot something german that weighs considerably more than either me or my partner) was in desperate need of water, and could not scale the fence. In light of my not having the foresight to pack water, we trecked what seemed like nearly a full mile along the fence we found an area in which we could lift the fence up enough for our companion to slip under. we also slipped under the fence and walked up the rest of the hill on to a nice suburban street not far from my car. Battered, scraped, and a little out of place in this little neighbourhood, we made tracks for a nearby stewarts where we rehydrated and sped off to enjoy pitchblacks air conditioning.
