This hospital was still in use when I was in High School, and I was actually treated at Hillcrest for a separated shoulder incurred during a football game at Reserve High School in 1982. I had driven through Silver City several times since then, and had never noticed that the hospital had closed. On the way to vacation in Arizona, I noticed the derelict building sitting on top of the hill as we drove by, and decided to check it out on the way back home. I spent about an hour wandering around, and even managed to locate the treatment room where I spent a few hours many years ago. I recall the staff being very friendly and professional, and I feel bad for the place.
