The Cult, Guns-N-Roses, Ottmar Liebert, Wilco, Santana, Moxy, Budgie, Iron Maiden, Pantera,..... Just some of the bands that played Sunken Gardens Theater through the years.
Not to mention numerous festivals, conventions and plays. Most San Antonians have nothing but great memories about this venue. It was still open in 2004 occupied by concerts and events like Taste of New Orleans and Reggae Fest. Then things slowed down. Theater and adjacent Chinese Gardens closed down for repairs, which were badly needed....and that was it. Reopening never materialized....
These days the only things you hear about Sunken Garden is when City Hall talks about improvements to San Antonio's tourist industry. Mayer says a few things, amount of $450.000 is being passed around....and that's it. Maybe one day city will find money and restore Sunken Garden Theater to it's former glory....One day....one day....one day.....one....
