The night over

Well we found out of this place after they put in the cross island express way. As we drove down we saw some buildings in the woods. After a few 1 dollar trips down the road we figured it was time to go in.

Planning is paramount for us. We generally go in at night and have a good bit of military equipment. We basically were going in knowing nothing more then it was a old plantation and there were several buildings. The plan was to pack are gear in after a 5 mile march and stay over night. We honestly had no idea what was there at all and that did bother us a bit. This place was off the beaten path and we figured it might be a drug place as well. Basically we packed a med kit food water and some lights. A few krill lights for low level room lighting and signaling and some radios. We headed out at about 8 as it was just dark. The plan was to move to the one building we knew was off from the others.

We knew from a recon that this building did exist and this was the closest to the highway and freedom. Several months later freedom would be a important subject involved at honey horn and my group but that’s another story.

We came in the back door and cleared the building, which at the time had blinds on every window. We took up residence in the side room with the bathroom as it had two windows that faced out toward the other buildings. This allowed us the chances to see car lights etc coming up the road toward us. After setting up our food and some trip lines we decided to go out and do some reconnaissance of the area.

The first major thing you notice of this place is the large open field. There are a few trees out there but generally there is no cover. One at a time we crossed the field and headed toward the two barns off in the distance. We intended to loop around finally coming back to the building we were at.

The two barns were pretty uneventful as one was locked shut and the other had nothing in it. Then we moved toward the other buildings behind them.

There are a total of four buildings back here to clear out. Systematically we went into each building and cleared them for anyone then went back and checked out the clothes etc looking for recent signs of life. Satisfied there was none we continued on. At the time we didn’t know that there was a grave site out there however I don’t think it would freak us out.

The next thing we came to was the chappel/barn/worshop. This is a huge building that has pews and old equipment dating back to the 19th century. Plus it also contains a pump house.

We at the time found some scythes like the grim reaper carries however they were in terrible repair. The sad thing is I believe the scythes and many other old farm tools were thrown out within the past year or so. Finally we came to the last 2 builds we found that night. Unfortunately they were pretty secure having a alarm system on them. There were in fact several more buildings but we were slightly disoriented at night and missed out on most of the other buildings.

At the time we got to go around the main house which is quite big. This is a great place to visit however I would suggest making this a daytime trip as I will add another story soon.

Finally making it back to the building we had set up in we check are security measures and went in. We all laid down sleeping in shifts for most of the night. Trav who is on this board happened to find a chair and took the cushions off. Myself and my best friend dealt with the very hard and sore concrete floor throughout the evening. Finally at about 9am we moved out and headed home packing half our food and water back.
