  This is a test keyboard. The actual console would have been at stage level. They use this when adjustments are made on the pipes.

  yeah, pipe tuning is a royal PITA, too.... especially tuning the English Post Horn.......... always at least a 2 man job, one holds the note and the other adjusts the pipe....... 2-way radios are handy, too........ I remember helping my father tune the Wurlitzer in Proctor's Theater in Schenectady, NY as a kid.......

  ...... 49MHz radio-shack headsets were state-of-the-art back then, and we used them religiously......... if we'd used up any more 9v energizers, Eveready would have probably sent us a stock certificate.... my Dad always tuned "by ear" and was good enough at it that the top organists that played at Proctor's (Alan Mills and the like) were pleased with his (volunteer) work.....
