The only time i would see a sealed switch this heavy-duty was on a drilling rig, which makes me think that some of this equipment might pieces of a drilling rig. I could be wrong, at least about some of this stuff.

It could all be the back parts of a TBM(tunnel boring machine) . How far is this from Yucca Mountain? /they used one there, and its been hauled off except the cutter head.

The flourescent fixtures are explosion-proof, everything is sealed including the cable entrance. These fixtures would be used in an environment of flammable materials or areas where the potential of a dust explosion existed.
