Thanks for the tour! Really interesting. Make me think of Friday the 13th a little bit. It was great to hear your stories at the same time.

Hey, thanks!! This has been up for a while now and no one has any comments - I know it's not the most excitng place, but I thought it was cool. FYI, the Friday the 13th camp is rather close to here - apparantly you can visit it...

Thanks a lot for adding this location. I enjoyed looking at all the pictures, it reminded me a lot of the camp I use to go to in california.

Cool, glad you enjoyed. This place is not unlike most camps I guess. Newer camps are much fancier from what I understand. Computer labs, extreme sports, etc...when I went we were lucky to have 2 Apple IIe's and motorboat that sometimes worked...

It kind of reminded me of that movie from the 1980s-Little Darlings. Almost same set up.

Hello there,
Thank you for the tour. This brings back a lot of memories. I was a counsellor on this camp in the summer of 1987. It was my first time in the USA (I am from The Netherlands) and I had a great time there. Not only on the camp, but just being in the USA and doing all these 'american' things I only knew from movies. All these 'first time' things for me like raisng the flag every morning at 7.45(even when it was your day off), waterskiing, the ATB's, having a rollerskating dance in the gym with DJ's playing videos (VJ's - I had never seen that before), seeing MTV for the first time (which we hadn't in Europe until 1990), etc.
What was also great on the camp was that we did a 'whole year' in these 8 weeks (I remember that we had a Xmas-day, a bonfire-night, pizza-day, etc.)
I remember the lounge very well and down the road there was a bar where we as counsellors could and would go on our 2 nights a week off. This bar was only open for the summermonths.
If I remember correctly I was a counsellor in cabin 7 (boys from 12-13 years old, is that correct ??). I was 'only' 20 at the time, so some of these guys were quite a handfull, but I learned new things from them as well. I still have the Eddy Murphy - Live on stage tape given by one of the boys (never had heard anything like that before). I am not sure if I can write it here, but I never forget the did I was explained what a 'Boner Bob' was :o).
Anyway, like I said, these photos bring back great memories (I am going to look up my old pictures now), but I am also sad to see what has happened to the camp, especially cabin 14 (up in the woods), the artbarn and the gym. The rest hasn't really changed that much in 18 years.
Thanks once again,
Roland Wessel The Netherlands
I remember seeing MTV for the first time (which we hadn't in Europe yet)
having a dance with DJ's playing videos !! Mind you

Wow, That brings back a flood of memories, came across this page while a little bit smashed and it blew my mind. Went here for 3 or 4 summers between 1984 and 1987 aged between 9 and 12. It is crazy seeing it in this state of disrepair. Awesome photos though, and I remember it like it was yesterday :) Roland the counsellor in the comments above I believe I remember from 1987! I was in Cabin 11 for 2 summers (I think) and in my last year I was in the cabin at the top of the hill in the flag pole photo (can't remember the number). It used to back onto the woods that headed down to cabin 13 and the track around the back of the mess hall/rec room. I also recall next to the ATV figure 8 course there was a track through to woods for the more advance/older riders. I wish I could remember peoples names from there, unfortunately only a couple come to mind. I had my first "french" kiss down by the lake front, and recall my first time ever of fooling around with the same girl down by the archery range one night of a dance that was held in the gym that we snuck away from. Funnily enough i remember her full name, but I won't kiss and tell. ;) If anyone is reading this they may recall finding a way to sneak up above the arts and crafts barn next to the shower and there was a TV up there that we used to go in and watch. (they sorted out the breach in security pretty quickly). Those were some good old days. I really wish I could remember the names of the people I spent time with, but I am drawing a blank. All the things you described in the photos I remember so clearly, you did forget to mention the little food shack around the back of the nurses office that you could get treats from on a Sunday though. Thank you for the trip down memory lane, it was something else. If anyone has a better memory for names and recall me let me know!
