The crescent wrench hanging on that yellow board in the upper left corner gave me a little heartburn, but nothing serious, I've gotten worse from Indian food.

Yup. Looks to be from a vertical engine orientation. The tang at the bottom (crank end) looks to be an oil splasher to toss oil about inside the engine. Counts most lawnmowers out as they tend to be horizontal.
