I can understand a nice, classic fixture, but there are scavengers that'll steal copper wire!

Maybe it's because I'm a little afraid of heights, but what guts you'd have for stealing that light fixture! And how would you do it? Unless there's some ceiling access, than you have to lower it down, or get a skyjack. I just would like to know how it was done, and watch them actually do it.

Fixture was probably on a winch - similar to large chandaliers in theaters, just so they can change the lightbulbs - lower to the floor, change the lamps, raise it up again.

Thank you for your suggestions, now that I've "explored" alot of other sites on this site, those seem more obvious.
