I want one of these for my apartment.

So do I! I want it not for style, but for economic reasons. I can drink > 2L of (diet) soda a day, so after a while, the cost adds up! I bet if I got one of these machines it would be cheaper for me, plus I wouldn't have to lug the bottles home from the store each week.

Sadly, to get the dispenser working, you would need to drag a large CO2 cylinder home, together with the boxes of postmix syrup for each flavour/drink.

Not to mention that if you use the new standard (postmixed bag in a box) you'll have to invest in a carbonator. Oh, and the ice bin would have to constantly be full in order for the soda to mix with the water properly as the lines are now run through the ice bin walls...yes, I know I'm a geek...I do concessions for a living ...

yikes thats alot of diet soda INeedAttention, you might gonna wanna slow down. i hear the aspartame in it accumulates in your system and in turn has a reverse effect so instead of losing weight you start gaining it :x

Aspartame shrinks your nuts and makes you shake like Oprah's colon fueled up with taco bell. I read it on the internet!

The machines alone go for $300 plus, and we're just talking the spicket part of things.

Wow, I remember making that comment almost two years ago. I make it a point to no longer buy soda (though I will drink it if it's served or otherwise offered to me, especially if it's mixed with some liquor). I switched to water, so now I'm only exposing myself to groundwater contaminants (like cryptosporidium).

That's "spigot", BTW. The funny thing about this is that those machines are usually leased. Coca-Cola would probably like to have that back.

Thanks for the spellcheck. When i worked Sonic, I'd walk by and turn the key on the side of the dispenser, shutting of the spigots. The carhops would flip out, thinking the thing was broken! Good times!

Like Dr. Pepper or Dr. Thunder only made by the Coca Cola company. Very close to the same flavor. It has now been renamed to Pibb Xtra.

'Spicket' is Scots for 'Tap', so not far wrong.
