could that be pointing the other way and those silos are robin hood? cus redpath would have had the norther electric plant behind it, judging by the ships this was in the 40s and the northern plant was there at that time

Montreal must have all ruled when all these factories were still active!

Oh, it did! Not too many years ago, Montreal was the financial, industrial and economic powerhouse of Canada. Montreal was the largest and most important city in the country. St. James Street, not Bay Street, was where the action was.

that's facing west or south west.. there's the linseed mill, .. now a lot of the water is filled in and there right ahead is where farine five roses would be and you shouldn't be able to see redpath from that angle..
you can tell because where those boats are today there a bike path.

the structures next to the silos are actually part of the linseed mill, they exploded or caught on fire a while back.

but im not sure how far the buildings went from the silo.

one of the things to remember about the heyday of the canal is how smoky it was with the boats, the trains, and all the industries running on coal.

yeah. and on the seaway there are still a couple of steamers on the canadian side, they are oil burners now but still quite smokey, the csl, algoma and uls fleets are entirely diesel though, no fun
