maze, i agree with you that in terms of historic preservation Six Flags deserves an A minus, but since the purchase by six flags a good quantity of money has been poured into the park. Under city stewardship the parc was suffering from a major case of deffered maintenance as well as limited new development. Since the six flags purchase la ronde has had a well deserved facelift and is once again a park we can be proud of. In a city where our municipal government has a hard time maintaining essential infrastructure i really do feel they had no place taking care of a luxury like an amusement park. A municipal government is not an expert at amusement park management. If it was it would not have allowed dolphins to die during a work stoppage.

there is a lot that stinks in the arrangement but six flags should not have to bear this cross alone. The city is at fault for not having been specific enough in historic protection. Many people are pointing the finger at six flags due to the removal of the sky ride amoungst other things but the city isnt doing a better job in the preservation of Expo67 remains either. The filling in of the canals on ile notre dame and the degredation of place des nations are blantant examples of this.

anyways maze, although i agree with you its disgusting that six flags has destroyed some expo 67 vestiges, but they are not alone, we have to stop the city from destroying the park before we can attack six flags.
