I have doubts. If I can find the pics of the tank I was on a while back that isnt a BMP you would understand.

It's a BMP - look at the tracks - 5/6/72's don't have tracks that narrow - plus you can see the firing ports on the sides.

If your asking munitions I have no idea. A better question would be why is it still on fire. There are very few things to burn in a tank.

  Disgusting.
Posted by Mark 12/13/2004 12:23 AM | remove
  why?
Posted by MDuitsman 12/14/2004 4:04 AM | remove
I think (emphasis on think) that its still on fire because it hasn't burned off all the fuel (diesel burns slower than standard gas, right?). I'm thinking this because the rear troop door isn't scorched. And the rear troop door is a fuel tank (very comforting for the passengers).

Yes, diesel burns far colder and slower than petrol does. It's not designed to burn really (but it does) as it's a compression ignition fuel - it explodes when compressed.

You can put out a lit cigar in a cup of diesel, try that trick with petrol and see what happens.

You can. put a lit cigarette into a pool of gassoline and not light it. Gas ignites at 500+ deg, a lit cig is only 420 or so at it's best.

Assuming there were people in it, yes, very much so... That would be a death I'd wish on no one.
