Description
Construction of the SQ Headquarters, aka the "Parthenais Hotel" as it was known during its time used as a detention centre. And I'm sure someone here knows the name of the nice little stadium in the back there..

noneother than delorimier stadium where jackie robinson broke the color barrier. when the royals left town the field was used as an impound lot and the areas under the stands as a highschool. there was even at one time a roller rink on the concourse

our own version of Wrigley Field. Sweet! but makes think how stupid, stupid, stupid, everyone was to not go for the downtown ballpark which cost us our professional baseball team.! Dont ever let anyway tell you it's no big deal to lose your baseball team, unless you WANT to be on a par with
dull, boring cities where nothing much is ever happening.

when you think of the taxes we got from player salaries, tourist dollars when the mets were in town or during interleague play the yankees or the sox it was a huge loss.

in the 80's the expos were drawing 2,000,000 + fans per season. Is anyone going to try to say there was no market for a team here? Sure fans were frustrated with the strike and then the fire sale, but it was the Big Owe that was the real problem. The downtown park would have made everybody happy.

I like the "big owed" (cause apparently we finished paying it off lol) ... I think it's a cool stadium.. but I agree that downtown is a must for baseball cause who from the west wants to go to pie nine.. same goes for most people.

as someone who for 10 years attended all 81 home games each season and lives on the west side of the city, the xcuse it was far was lame at best. 12 000 parking spots under it, great road access and 2 metro stations. Also as someone who has been to many ballparks around the country the big owe, surprisingly has better sightlines than many baseball only parks, especially after the 91 reconfiguration when they moved homeplate back 25 feet and sunk the dugouts. with only 1 floor of private boxes the upper deck isnt up with the clouds and the lower bowl isnt this vast wasteland like at shea or the skydome. also the mobile bleachers in the outfield added in 92 were shear genious making otherwise useless seats for baseball money makers. Now when people say a new stadium makes for a full stadium, its not always the case look at washingtons pathetic attendance, its better than what the expos drew but with a new park it should be more. Look at cleveland, they went from pathetic to the sweetheart of the league when the jake was built. But one thing consoles me with the loss of the expos.

Washington, First in War, First in Peace.................................................LAST IN THE NL EAST

you montreal folks should kill those responsible for letting the Expos go.
For us here in northern New York, it was great to be able to drive not even two hours for a ballgame, have dinner up there and then blast home again. Have you ever tried to get out of Fenway after a game?

Oh, fuck the Yankees and the Mets. You want a christmas gift for Samurai? Make the yankees and the mets disappeaer forever.

it would have been cool if the roof didn't fuck up on the big owe

samurai them is fighting words. The mets, the first and last team the expos ever played. The mets are my team!

  Fuck da Mets, Yankees too!

Despite Blue Monday, ya gotta be a Dodger fan in Montreal.

Maybe it's just that whole Verdun/Brooklyn scenario from Fennario that s got me going. lofuckingl!

everyone loves the dodgers, and as much as i love the expos, STEVE ROGERS blew that pitch, if fanning could have put his differences aside and put the spaceman in it we would still have a team in montreal.

but hey as far as MLB goes, i like the little guy, Indians and Royals!

I have been a Boston Red Sox fan since I was old enough to say "Yankees suck". I used to like the Expos, but since they were stolen, no more... one of my relatives is now pitching for the Minnesota Twins, last season the Devil Rays. The kid is pretty good.

he was right out of high school, Queensbury New York.
Brendan Harris is his name. He's having a great season with the Twins so far.

Fennario's new play condoville is a good sequel to balconville...

I am not sure when it is coming out (or gonna be done) but the reading for it was entertaining.

Not crazy about his party though...

I saw Condoville almost 2 years ago.

Sam, I always loved the Red Sox as I was a big Carl Yasztremski fan, and actually saw him at the All Star game here. I was overjoyed they finally won the series in my lifetime, but am beginning to feel like they are just another rich man's team like those a-holes in NYC

bandwagon fans suck ass... where were they during all those years of frustration and embarassment??? Bah!
it's like all those fucktards that jumped on the Patriots bandwagon when they became a juggernaut in the AFC... Bah!
For Hockey, Buffalo Sabres, New Jersey Devils and damn do I miss the Whalers.
Football... Buffalo Bills, Seattle Seahawks
Baseball... Red Sox
Basketball... eh, don't really care for basketball.

I miss the Whalers and the Nordiques. That was one hell of a division back in the days of Montreal, Quebec, Hartford, Boston, Buffalo.
