152 T 50 (or 152/50 T), "152 mm 50 caliber naval cannon model Canet, barrel Tampella". Even though it looked like a turret, it was "a traditional gun" with a stand, and the shield was just placed on top of it. The newer ones, 100 TK and 130 TK, were more like tank turrets. This gun had been deactivated, and I was surprised to find the top hatch unlocked. It still turned smoothly and all.

fact there is a cover over the gun mount shows it's still semi-maintained and can be put back into action...

Unfortunately deactivation involves so much welding and drilling that in theory this gun could be legally sold to civilians. It's impossible to make it operational again without replacing all vital parts (barrel, breech etc.). There's also no need to put this old piece of naval artillery back in action, since there's four relatively modern 130 mm guns scattered around the same island. They can be linked together to get commands from a separate source (fire control units on nearby islands, fixed coast guard radar network, missile boats etc.) or use their own rangefinding equipment. And in the end fixed coastal artillery is more or less obsolete...

Then why the cover?

Why not? It's been there since the last shot was fired (although I doubt the gun has ever been fired in this location - there's a shipping lane and everything in the firing zone), so why remove it now?

True.
