My memories are more along the lines of shady dudes muttering "hash, mescaline, acid?" in the park :-P

The old Forum was a pretty dull building, yet it was full of magic.

it was a true hockey arena, the bell center is a theatre with a rink. the multiple expansions of the forum gave it charm, i remember seeing ACDC and not seeing the stage (i was at the atwater end) because i had a freaking scoreboard in the way, at the bell center it retracts into the ceiling! Now the Colisee thats a hockey palace and funny i love the 1969 reno to the forum outside

It was even funkier before that with all the shops and, of course, the tavern, at street level.

The thing that strikes me most aboput this photograph is how dead it is. Early Sunday morning? Just a few years earlier that park was part of one of the busiest bus terminals in the city. Everyone going west, or southwest, had to get their bus here pretty much.

Yeah, it must've been a Sunday morning. When I was a kid, everything was closed on Sundays. Everything except the Jewish bakery, anyway. I hate the way the Whatever Center uncerimoniously dumps you out via the fire escapes after an event. It's as if the building is saying "show's over, we've got your money, now GTFO". A really rude bit of architecture, that.

the bell center has the most unceremonious entrances via the parking lots too, at least at the big owe the parking lots give you the option to enter via the esplanade or the rotunda, the bell center has these creepy stairways everywhere, also the big owe at the end of an event funnels you back out the way you came in, the crowd is great, hey charlie, my mom worked 8 years at the royal bank at atwater and ste-cat in the forum. prior to alexis nihon, she said it was quite the scene to see elephants walking ste-cat to get to the lambert closse entrance
