  Yep, it was dug out in the 1910s when the tunnel was bult. Originally there was a small terminal where the CN headquarters is now. Central Station opened in the 40s, and the rest of the block was built over in the late 50s/early 60s.

  and the bridge on dorcester is still there, if you look close when you come out of PVM you can even see expansion joints

  i know in the 80s the median was steel and concrete, when my dad worked in pvm i remember watching them using a cutting torch to remove the center girder. Knowing our cities infrastructure it wouldnt surprise me if it was the original, look at all the viaduct bridges. including the one under place bonaventure
