Description
Two "No Parking Any Time" signs in the semi-dry muddy lake bed. Unknown as to why these signs are in the bottom of the lake bed. There does not appear to be any signs of a road that was once down there.

I used to live in the area and those signs weren't always there. I believe they were broken off by kids andjabbed in the soft mud. It's a mystery why the water district has never removed them. It's true that there was never a modern road down there.

I tried pushing on one (the taller one in the foreground) and it was in there pretty good. I estimate there was only about a foot and a half of the pole in the mud, judging from how tall it was next to me. I think they might be more than just "jabbed" into the "soft mud". There was once the resort town of "Cannon" down closer to the dam and it was inundated when the dam was erected in 1935. But that's totally gone or under tens of feet of mud/silt.

Thoise signs are definitely newer than 1935, but I emailed a buddy yesterday about this since we used to hang out there, as well as Guadalupe. He told me that when the water was low, there was a nice sand or gravel bar that you could drive down to from Hicks Rd. Now it's gated off. Some of the twin creeks residents used it for a beach for swimming, sunbathing, or fishing. This was years ago and the water district put a stop to it. first with the signs, then by obliterating the road. The 2' sign that can't be read was a no swimming sign.

This makes more sense. I still don' t know why they were never pulled out, but since you aren't allowed to boat, maybe they never bothered.

Awesome info..thanks for the clarification. That makes total sense. I know the gate you speak of...I went around it when I went down into the reservoir bed. It looks like a "boat launch ramp" only dirt, instead of concrete and I wondered about it..."Why would there be a gate there leading into the water", I asked.
