im still surprised about this place closing, it was always cleaner than the colibri, so far weve lost the west end, the laval, the belvedere nittolos and a few others i cant remember, where will we go for a cheap motel when st-jacques is legit!!! speaking of sergakis they want to build a suites hotel where the centre du camion was

Nittolos was synonymous with Saint Jaques West. One of my theories is that the West End Gand boys who used to dominate the strip are all getting older or dead and so the next generation may have moved the game elsewhere.

it still is a pretty gross commerical street but there was a lot of good times/bad times for a lot of people along there. I used to stop in a lot at the Petro Canada where I knew the owners and all the mechanics. A legit place where some small time deals could be made.

do you remember what mullins/terry pontiac was called before being terry pontiac buick. I know terry opened in 1986 mullins in 92 only to close in 93 just after the 1994 model release. 93 was a bad year for 3 long time montreal dealers, snyder chev olds, mullins and omer barre all folded, montreal west automobile (gm) lost its banner in the 90s too. Remember when the midas muffler on st jacques blew up?

yeah, the garage doors were blown off the front of the building. it happened in 86 or 87 one guy was killed.
speaking of lost dealers harrold cummings chev olds was a neon palace, sadly it was all removed when it folded, the only trace of cummings is the doormats at the le chateau warehouse store the doormats still say "cummings sales" "cummings parts" "cummings service" depending on the doors. also another spectacular sign was the blue bonnets neon sign, its gone too. i love seeing new neon though. sam you have probably seen the new WIRY sign in plattsburgh. there used to be some nice motel signs on US9 too like the beacon, town and beach and pioneer motel oh and the "super 87" drive in. now im babbleing :D

WIRY's sign is pretty garish... nice sign down route 9 just north of the outlet shops in lake george is this motel... looks like a chicago blackhawks logo only in neon... pretty neat.

I remember the Super 87. that was super cool way back when.
Seems to me a lot of the mechanics drifted to that place on the 40 going out to Sources, Parkway Plaza?
