I would be a little afraid to build a fire in a house made of Styrofoam.

That's not a fireplace, from what I understand, it once held a small TV.

Correct - it used to house a TV.

I can't believe the house of the future had a 15" CRT TV... I would have thought they'd have LCD or Plasma screen at the least. Seriously, they should have holographic projectors, but who am I to judge what the "future" will be like.

Keep in mind this was built in 1980. 15" color CRT"s were still pretty expensive then and they definitely didnt have lcd or plasma screens then

JOKE! JOKE! JOKE! You would have figured I was joking by the 'holographic projectors' comment, but I guess not...

Apparently in the future we will use ketchup bottles to change channels.

This seems like a very odd place to dip a snack in ketchup... You might spill some on that great carpet and THEN you'd have a stain...

You wouldn't just have a stain, you'd have a stain of the FUTURE! Are we all MST3K fans or is that from something else.

Contrary to what everyone thinks that hole is an 'underpants warmer'. It's where you warm your underpants.

Having toured more than one Xanadu as a kid, I can tell you, it was not ONLY a 15" CRT, but a 15" CRT displaying a fireplace video. Utterly cheesy, yet novel, in those days.

Yeah, that's total shite. MY fireplace video is running on a array of 4 15" CRT's.
