Don't you mean "I wonder how we ended up here?" lol Seattle was originally built on that level, but today's Seattle is up one level. So technically we walk on Level 2 (ground level). Make sense, huh?

Yeah, it makes sense. But isn't the underground technically the tunnels that connect the basements of level 2 businesses?

nope. Underground for Pioneer Square and parts of Seattle South back in the early to late 1800's was the city. They then had plumbing problems and built the streets up to compensate for their errors and the such. Do a google search for seattle underground and read up.
