The reamins of the mining operation which existed here. I can find no information about what they were mining, and the ore doesn't look like anything I'm familiar with. For comparison purposes, the concrete block on the crest is about 65 feet tall. A rail spur which served the mine is barely visible on the right.

Nice photos! The school is cool, but the mine is FINE! Sorry, I'm channeling Jesse Jackson. I'm gonna be shooting the school at night next weekend...I'd love to climb up there and explore that mine head, but I won't be there during the day at all, and unless there's dead easy access (like say, stairs) I don't think I would be likely to attempt it.

talc is only one part of it, the hazel mine produced copper and silver and is in that general area, you also had mica, gypsum, marble, molybdenum, rhyolite, sulfur, etc.
