i almost thought it was a datsun 210... but the rear window gave it away. Now, the mid-70's Corolla hatchback was a neat little car. A friend of our family had one... seemed like an impossibly small car for 1980.

hers the defroster went so its got a schoolbus fan. I always loved the early 80s datsun trucks with 2 spark plugs per cylinder

that engine survived into the early 90's... that KA-series was most commonly referred to as the 'Z-code' engine. I want to say that it was a KA24, same as the 240SX, but I'm not 100% sure.

The NAPS-Z motor is the one you are talking about with the twin plugs. It had limited tasks to do with the power outut, but rather was used to burn the unburned fuel to make it pass emissions.
I had one in my 1982 Nissan/Datsun 200sx

I miss the magic girl in my 200SX who told me useful info like "Door is open" or "Headlights are on"

Chrysler had that with their 'high end' K-cars... they quit putting those in cars when the dealers kept getting complaints and having to remove them...!!

There was a procedure in the K-Cars involving turning the ignition on and off several times that disabled the stupid voice.

Chryslers had a male voice. "Don't forget your keys."

I would have taken much better care of myself had I known I would live long enough to hear of a post 1960 automobile being reffered to as a "classic", LOLOL!

My 200sx would tell me that the "Pahhking brake is applied" with a New England Accent. I would reply "yes it is, because I'm turning a corner, and the roads are snow covered"

I just looked a little harder at that car...wish there was more pictures. My mother had a '66 Corolla...I think it was the first year they imported them. And it looked very much like this car. They're extremely rare now and probably were pretty rare back then too. I know they didn't change much for a long time, but I really wonder what year that one is.
