  This is what happen with electric heating. It's regular and same thing happens in my house. It's due to dust accumulating on the top of the electric board, the heat from board "broil" the dust that sits on top of it and this is what happen. You just gotta clean it once a year (usually in spring) with a wet clothes. This is probably a few years of "broiled" dust unclean.

  That and negative ionisation from the heat source, yeah.

You can 're-route' your grime by placing an ioniser with a dust plate in the room. Easier to clean - they use this method in operating theatres.

  I wired one of these base-board heaters up a couple of months ago in a house in Canada.

I love you guys' electrical standards: they are so wonderfully lax! :-D

  Camaro, it depends where you are in Canada. In Quebec, it's A LOT CHEAPER than oil or natural gas. In New Brunswick, it's about the same. In Ontario, it's just a bit more expensive then oil. In Nova Scotia, natural gas is cheaper.
