  the old house on Big Hollow in Moriah NY was like this. Unfortunately, 20+ years of weather, twits and parties have left very little of the turn-of-the-century newspaper left inside/on the walls...

  It's for insulation. My Great-Grandmothers house used to have this all throughout it. I managed to save a full color comic section from the 1932 Detroit Free Press.

  Typical. My parents found newspapers from the 1960s in the basement ductwork while remodeling.
