  What? No caboose? There's supposed to be a caboose at the end...

  Eh... You saw my caboose in the Middleport Middle School pictures. ;-)

  Very nice gallery, not too many old trains on the site. I liked it a lot.

  Wow. They could frame an entire anime series around brining one of these back to life and using it to save Earth :-}

  Except, of course, anime is gay.

  I commented on this six years ago. No one comments on the ldb anymore it used to be a hoot. I figure at least the train geeks would chime in. Great stuff oherian. Great tribute to some tired iron. Hope it is saved.

  You're right about no one commenting anymore on the LDB. Thank you for your kind words. I haven't been to Roanoke in years, so I don't know what has happened to these engines in recent years. I hope they were saved, but I'm afraid they may have been destroyed like so much else from our history.
Posted by Oherian 8/8/2012 5:39 AM | remove
  Actually, I was wrong... Just did a brief Google search, and they have not only been saved, they've been restored, or are in the process of being restored.

I'll add that to the DB entry.
