Yeh. The bones? Maybe it fell in 40+ years ago and they decomposed, but that wouldnt explain the rest.

Maybe the skin dried out and was partially mummified after the rest decomposed.

Totally weird! It looks like it got vaporized. It looks like the back feet were still kicking after it hit the floor . Bones don't decompose, flesh does. It looks as if it got nuked by microwaves or something.
Where's our resident communications technician, I wonder what his take would be on this?

If the bones were vaporized, wouldn't the skin be vaporized too? Maybe something heavy fell on it, crushed it and was removed.

It could be that the the dark stains around it's rear end denote bleeding out of the rectum and anus, which would lend itself to the crushing theory. A little sick, but logical.

It's because the squirrel died of starvation, with and on a cold floor, this would extand the decomp time, and also the fluids of the animal are that what is dried around it, the squirrel got in, but no way out, and no food. RIP

Mu guess is that when someone came into check the integrity of the bunker, they found the decaying squirrel and had the remains removed but were too lazy to scrub the squirrel off the ground.

Could it have been burned and the skin melted to the floor somehow since it was concrete? Cool pic.
