  Funny you should say that, it is actually a very sturdy ladder. They just ripped the bottom off to stop idiots like us killing ourselves!

  Yes it certainly would, providing the ladder above the torn part is totaly intact. Problem is, once you get the the top, there is nowhere to go!

  I don't know how wide that ledge is, but i think the top of the chimeny may be solid, with 3 pipes leading down.
