Description
Plumbing works with more of those lovely arches. The area just south of the basin used to contain some pretty extensive hydraulic works. Their 'raison d'etre' remains a mystery to me. Nowadays it's all mostly marsh land.

the soulanges canal was more advanced than the lachine canal, its lockes were emptied and filled by tunnels in the walls whereas lachine it was sluice gates in the lock doors
