  It's a Xerox. Judging by the layout of the batteries on the PCB - prolly late eighties vintage.

  Every Xerox copier I've used has been utter crap. Even the spiffy new ones that polish your shoes, make you a cup of tea and solve all your personal problems as it screws up all your paper...
