And that's it. There was intense crashing from upstairs and I didn't want to hang around to find out who or what was making it - there was no wind and no way an animal large enough could have got up there. But I'll be back! Preferably with company.

  Maybe one of the metal corrugated sheets covering the windows is a little loose? Something like that would make a hell of a noise in an empty building.

  Noise yes, but it wouldn't make the walls shake and the plaster fall off.
