Does anyone know of any sunbeams like this in Mpls? The lack of tunnels just under the street make them a bit rarer, but I hope someone knows of at least one...

You need a manhole cover with a single small hole (this case was the mousehole on the edge used to lift it) and a foggy drain.

I'm not looking for the beam, really, just the hole and the spot of light. I've seen covers with holes in the center in Mpls, but at the top of shafts.

so you're looking for one with a vault or room under it, not just a shaft? ...hmmm... how about the room at the top of the first helix of W Kittsondale. If it hasn't been somehow walled (ceilinged?) off, I remember there being something like that there. Somewhere around the top of the stairs, there was a very rusty sunk-into-the-wall type of ladder that went up into a hole in the ceiling. I remember going through that hole into a smallish round room and seeing a glimmer of daylight through a hole in a cover another 10(?) feet above me. unrelated, but... Reading this reminded me of a time under the Ford Parkway bridge when the sun reflected off the Mississippi River into the little hole on the east side that leads to the bridge rooms lighting up the first room quite well.
