Judging by the scouring along the side of that stream, I can imagine it gets a LOT of rain in the Winter.

IIVO's right; Sronlairig is pretty high up in the mountains and snow melt would be the biggest cause of floods in winter/spring.

You can see that when you look at the mountains. These kind of mountains (No trees at all) means no thaw until spring. The winter rain you'll get will still be snow here.

With the Gulf Stream-inflicte climate in Scotland there are sometimes severe thaws in the winter too, though.
