 Overview
 Description
Abandoned since 2010, the Beutel Campus was well known for the tragic incident that happened 6 years earlier (read the "Description" box). The facility had elementary school students on the right side, and then high school students on the left side. It was probably one of the highest rated school in the Saint-Laurent district before, most of the children in this neighborhood went to this school until it closed.

During my exploration in summer 2017, the construction inside was already started, from the photos of other explorers who went inside before me, it was clear that everything was clean and well placed before my exploration (chairs and desks in order in the classrooms, etc). When I was there, everything was messy, the furniture was out in the corridors for work, some sections had already started to be stripped up too.

After about 30 minutes of exploring and taking some photos, the police came to disrupt our session. We had taken our time to go back and do a scouting of about 45 minutes because of the neighbors and the park in front of the school. After that time it was almost dark outside, and for some pictures we took our flashlights (but, what a bad idea). After a few minutes we see policemen on bikes coming into the inner courtyard of the school, flashlight in hand looking out the windows, then a cop car in front of the main entrance. To make it quick, we hid, and the good time came when there was no one nearby, we escaped through a window we had opened. A few minutes later, the officers were inside, it was tight one!

     History
The extensive 1959 campus was shuttered at the end of the 2010-2011 school year due to falling enrolment and financial difficulties, and the elementary and high schools merged with the system's other campus in Snowdon. The elementary had been scheduled to close in 2008, but a campaign by parents and others in the St. Laurent community, persuaded the board to keep it open a few more years.

The library at the campus, in the city’s St. Laurent district, was heavily damaged in April 2004 by what a court called a terrorist act that its perpetrator said was motivated by anti-Israel sentiment. The attack made headlines around the world and was widely condemned. So keeping the school open took on a symbolic significance. The St. Laurent Jewish community was determined that it should survive after the hateful attack.

In 2018, the school re-opened its doors to students after all the construction had been done, more than $ 2 million was needed to end the school's renovation project.
     Media Coverage
Here you can find the article about the school being firebombed, with few others informations that i mentionned before : https://www.cjnews...rzliah-campus-sold
     Future Plans
The school is now re-opened to the jewish community in Montreal since the decontamination and construction had been done in the last few years. Note that when i got inside they were already doing heavy construction in the school.
