150 Year old Multiple floor, Limestone building, several areas of collapsed floors, and floors close to collapse. Roof is mostly collapsed, Building is in overall very poor condition. Have been following its decay for the last several years. Talked to a couple of locals, said there have been stories of homeless living there from time to time, and that some kids tried to finish it off with fire a couple of years ago. They also said that supposedly the "stars" (which are all over the building) are worth money and people have tried to steal them. According to an eyewitness account, this was a tire storage facility for a while after International Harvester moved to Rock Island. There are clues inside that support that the building was used after IH Left in 1961. After sending away and requesting for records from the county recorders office, a more accurate time line was figured out. See the story "Whiteside County Records Search" for more info.

150 Year old Limestone building, once apart of a large complex owned by International Harvester. From the Sauk Valley news paper (Article attached): "Farm equipment was manufactured at the Limestone Building from 1867 to 1961, and the edifice has been vacant since." Keystone Manufacturing then International Harvester manufactured farm equipment here until the early 60's. One source said it was victim of fire damage in 1993, when buildings across the street caught fire. Those buildings have since been demolished. There use to be a catwalk that extended from the south side of the building to other buildings across the street. This has all been taken down. Its also the area where the wall is currently collapsed. The city recently approved to handle the funding of the demolition themselves without EPA help. Demolition was determined to be complete in late August of 2017

The city wants to turn the site into a brownfield area. Possibly to use some remnants of the building to put something here.
