The trail (Flank Trail) offers some amazing views of the Cheakamus River, with luck you will get to see kayakers doing some 15-20' drops off waterfalls and cliffs. The train wreck site is pretty neat, the graffitis are always changing and evolving. In 2016 a much easier 1 km trail was built along with a new suspension bridge. This means that the train wreck can get pretty crowded with tourists at times ***IMPORTANT NOTE*** The CN police have been active in the area and issuing tickets for walking down the tracks. If you follow the Flank Trail (the original trail to the train wreck) and stay off the tracks you should be fine.

The wreck happened August 11 1956 in a rock cut. There were three boxcars loaded with lumber jammed in there, blocking the line. The Pacific Great Eastern Railway equipment wouldn't budge them so the company got a hold of a local logging company and asked them to move the wreck with a couple D8 bulldozers. They pushed the mangled cars off the track. Then dragged them into the woods. Where they currently sit. The train had four engines. There was a mistake made on the tonnage of the train, making it too heavy and they had to split the train to get up the grade to Parkhurst (on Green Lake); and by doing that they were put behind schedule. Because of this, they were trying to make up time by speeding through an area under repair on the tracks. The speed limit was only 24 km/h. The fourth engine turned a rail, causing the train wreck. The train was traveling at 56 km/h. The engineer and crew were subsequently fired after the investigation into the wreck.
