 Description
Ensemble architectural construit dans le cadre d'Expo 67 situé à l'extrémité sud de l'île Sainte-Hélène. L'ensemble est assez grand, mais l'intérieur des bâtiments est assez petit en général. Les bâtiments semblent aujourd'hui servir pour l'entreposage de matériel et d'équipement par les employés de la Ville de Montréal.

     Interesting Features
    Architecture très intéressante qui rappelle les grandes plazas précolombiennes de la Mésoamérique. Très bonne préservation des bâtiments. Accès facile sur place (même si c'est clôturé), mais les bâtiments sont cadenassés et possiblement surveillés par caméras/alarmes (actives ou pas???). Site calme et peu fréquenté sur le bord de l'eau, le plus méconnu des vestiges d'Expo 67.

     History
    Construit par les architectes André et Pierre Blouin, la Place des Nations a été le théâtre de la majorité des cérémonies officielles lors de l’exposition universelle de 1967 à Montréal. On y célébrait notamment les fêtes nationales des différents pays représentés à l'exposition. L'ensemble comprenait des gradins, une tribune d'honneur, des plateaux de spectacles, deux salles de réception et deux restaurants construits en béton autour d'une grande place rectangulaire et reliés par des passerelles en bois. Elle pouvait acceuillir jusqu'à 7000 personnes. Aujourd'hui, la place est à l'abandon, mais des panneaux d'interprétation rappellent aux visiteurs le rôle historique qu’elle a joué.
