This building was part of the companies cabinet manufacturing operation, making cabinets for old radios. Philco, which began as a battery company, soon switched to Radio manufacture and was one of the most successful in the world, not only expanding their Philadelphia facilities to more buildings but also opening more factories in the UK, US, and Canada. In the 1950s they expanded their production into televisions, air conditioners and other electronics.
