     Interesting Features
The only thing that really makes this worth seeing is that it has spent most of the last 90 years under water. Normally, Elephant Butte Lake covers this area about 30 feet deep. Due to several years of drought, the lake has given up her building in the last few seasons.

     History
I have heard ten stories about this place, and can't confirm any of them. I have been told is was a TB sanatorium, a Bureau of Reclamation office building, one of the HQ buildings during construction of the dam and more. All I can tell you for sure is that it is there, and if I ever find the truth, I'll post it.

Edit 2X: This site had me intrigued so I did a little armchair exploring. And I moved the coordinates if entry owner disagrees feel free to change back.

Apparently this was indeed the concrete plant and HQ or what remains of the plant from when they built the dam. It was abandoned to the lake after the dam was completed and the water level began to rise. Very few references on the WWW exist but I found a couple and at least one with interior shots. You can see part of that iron "visitor" fence through the door.

Satellite imagery from 1996 does indeed show this site to be underwater. Subsequent imagery reveals it above the water line.

     Future Plans
In the future, this building will be a scuba diving trip.
