1904 – Construction begins. Designed by the prominent Montréal architectural firm of Edward and W.S. Maxwell. 1905 – Construction completes. Erected as part of a new administrative, hotel and passenger complex for the Canadian Pacific Railway. 1915 – The building is expanded. At peak operation, as many as 17 trains made stops here daily. 1971 - Royal Alexandra Hotel associated with the complex is demolished. 1978 – Passenger rail service terminates, though CPR continues to use the office wing. 1982 - Winnipeg Railway Station is designated a National Historic Site. 1990 – CPR completely vacates the property. 1992 – The Aboriginal Centre of Winnipeg purchases the station and rehabilitation work slowly begins. 1993 – The site is designated Manitoba Provincial Heritage Site No. 76.
