The location is strewn with garbage, abandoned motorcycles and various other bits of detritus. Care should be taken when walking through the area. Large brick and wood house with very solid foundation and flooring. Beautiful coloured wood inside. People must have left in a hurry, because the alert explorer will now find x-rays, photo albums, and various other personal effects.

Traditional style Korean home. Almost certainly a post-war structure, as there is a somewhat modern electrical service installed. It's somewhat rare to find a single family dwelling of more than a few rooms in Korea, let alone two floors and a full basement. This is quite a large house by Seoul's standards, and probably belonged to someone wealthy at some point.

"Hanok" is the Korean word for the traditional style of Korean housing. As industrialization and gentrification have continued to take place since the 60's, the hanok are slowly disappearing. The city claims to consider hanok preservation a priority, but for some reason, these interesting and culturally significant little homes continue to disappear from the urban landscape.

As this site sits in the heart of Seoul's business and financial district, I have no doubt it will soon be converted to a 20+ story "officetel". These buildings are mixed commercial/retail/residential areas.
