The site was originally developed by a prospector named Thad Greene, possibly created to process some tungsten claims he discovered in 1952-1953 around Skidoo. However, his claims were never fully developed as the tungsten ore was too poor to process onsite. The mill subsequently changed hands twice, first to Erwin Denner, then John Drake. They intended to use the property as a custom mill to treat gold ore from the nearby Skidoo mines. However, the mill never witnessed much activity, and judging by the items left behind, it was probably abandoned around 1970.
