There are 2 buildings on this site. The first a 2 story schoolhouse built in 1912 by the Free Masons. This building is still in use as a community center. The second building was a gymnasium, built in 1939 as part of a WPA works project. This building is the focus of the story. The WPA also built a star shaped fountain on the grounds.
The rock work on the flagpole, the water tank, and the retaining wall appear to be the same vintage as the fountain, but there is no reference to them being WPA projects.
According to locals, it was used up until the 70's, until the roof collasped on it. Of course, this was well after the Clairette School System was absorbed by larger districts in the area. Most of the debris has long since been removed from the site.
All that is left is the stone structure and footings for the floor. I have listed this site as active, since the adjoining building is still in use.
