     History
You wont find much history here, at least not specific to this location. Much of what went on here never made it into the public record. But in a sense this little farmhouse sitting on 140 or so acres of prime real estate is history. History in transition.

Not long ago North Texas was dotted with little farms such as this. Wide open spaces and cheap aerable land prices enticed homesteaders and subsistance farmers from more populated and established states back east here in an effort to cultivate a better living from the land. Cotton, sorghum, hay, cattle sometimes horses, the blackland prairie of the 19th and 20th centuries allowed modest success and even a little profit for those willing to bust the sod and haul the hay to feed the livestock.

Now a different type of profit taking is at hand. Real estate development. Collin county has been one of the fastest growing areas in Texas for the last 25 years. Acre upon acre, section upon section of black clay farm land and cattle ranches are evolving into subdivisions and soccer fields with no end in sight. Not til all the land is used up.

The nearby two lane blacktop state highway is now a 4-6 lane expressway soon to become eight lanes of tollway. We all knew it would happen. As you stand on the back 40 you can see the encroaching development. Copper sheathed roofs glisten in the sun while the sound of power tools and nail guns frenetically race to beat the deadline and build another half million dollar home.

This little two bedroom farmhouse is nothing more than a tar paper shack but the land is pure gold and its for sale, all or part, zoned for multi-use and ready to be developed into the next gated, yuppie, bentree, briarwood, stonebridge, golf course community. Hey, ya gotta put'em somewhere we can always buy our cotton from China.

Meanwhile somebody is still working this land. There was a crop here as recent as last year. Ive listed it as active for that reason but the structure itself may as well be abandoned.

UPDATED COORDINATES: per request by another UER member, with all the change around here I wasnt sure it was still there but 2012 satellite indicates its still standing
