Steve Jobs bought this house in 1984 and is featured on a cover of TIME on the front lawn. Though he only lived in it for less than ten years, he still owns it. Currently, he is in a legal battle with the city of Woodside regarding its demolition. The City is fighting demolishment, saying the house has significant historical value, since it was designed by famed architect, George Washington Smith. There is only ONE 17,250 sq foot "grandfathered in" George Washington Smith mansion in Woodside. It is the Jackling House, built in 1921. Visitors have included Charles Lindbergh, Shirley Temple, Mr and Mrs Richard Nixon, Bill Clinton and family, and a main character in Tom Wolfe's "The Electric Koolaid Acid Test"... not to mention Steve Jobs.

Jobs plans to demolish the building; however, the Woodside city council has blocked demolition, so its status remains in limbo.
