Located in a predominantly African-American neighborhood Lutheran became known as one of the few places where African-Americans could seek medical attention without discrimination. With bigger and better hospital facilities popping up all over Baltimore the hospital fell on hard times and was forced to close its doors in 1989. Since closing down over 17 years ago the building has been stripped of anything of value.
