The Barn is being reconstructed. The airport is too. The house in the field is gone, and construction of the soccor field/ampitheater is underway.

The aeroport served Agawam from about 1950-1995.
The State farm was a prisoner rehabilitation facility from ?-1988. It shut down about the same time as the York St. Jail, Funds were moved to the new facility in Ludlow Ma. Wardens and Prisoners bunked in the house, and worked the fields from the barn.
Rumor states that Frank Sinatra flew to the aeroport to hang out at a place called Ceasars here in Agawam. More to follow if I can get in. It's the same shitty green paint, and same cinder block construction so who knows. Both buildings were marked for demolition at the same time which suggests both properties were owned by the same entity. Who may be dead, or otherwise uninterested.

Soon to become a parking lot for the terminus of the Ct. River Valley Greenway trail on the West side of the river. Will eventually connect to Springfield, and NOHO and Amherst.
There will be a 50 acre park where the state farm was.
No complaints here!!! Parks and Bike Trails Make me HAPPY!
