 Overview
 Description
Greystone Park is a large complex of buildings, all of them abandoned. The focal point of the campus is the large Kirkbride building made of gray stone and arched brick. The administration portion of the building in the center was in use after most of the facility was shut down, but the wings were abandoned at different times before the facility closed.

     History
The Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital was established in 1876, and designed by Samuel Sloan. It gets it's name from the grey stone used to build several of the buildings. Until the Pentagon was built the Kirkbride was the largest standing structure on a single foundation in the world. Deinstitutionalization caused the closing of many buildings on the property during the 70's and 80's.

Allen Ginsberg's mother, Naomi, was institutionalized here. Part I of Howl contains a reference to "Greystone's foetid halls".

     Future Plans
A lot of the outbuildings have been demolished and a new 'complex' has been constructed a thousand or so yards behind the Kirkbride. The future of the Kirk is currently uncertain.

    2014:
A large fence has been placed around the entire building. Police presence is much heavier. Plans for demolition this year are in place, but many groups are fighting for renovation.
